01To begin
The scroll is changed. That part is done.
We change the hanging scroll on the first of each month. That completes one part of the month's editing. No two issues carry the same contents.
So we count the inn in issues — April, October, and so on. Readers stay in the edition for their month.

Meet the seven rooms.
The inn is a two-storey wooden house. Its creaking stairs deserve a mention on the rooms page.

03Food
We revise the menu on the first.
The menu draws on what the Hida mountains give and what the river gives. We listed the ingredients and counted over a hundred for one month. They took up a good deal of space.
Take the menu card home; some readers cook from it. If it reaches a kitchen, the editing has earned its keep.
04Seasons
We change the cover twelve times a year.
Snow covers January, blossom April, maple October. The furnishings change on the first too, entrance included.
One photograph is added each month. Laid out together, they became a year at the inn.
05Plates
Look back through twelve months.
